The Boswell Book Club meets at 2:00 p.m. on the second Thursday of the month in the meeting room of the Boswell Memorial Hall. If you are interested in joining, or just learning more about the group, contact Melody Farmer by phone at (250) 223-8443 or by email at melodick.farmer@gmail.com

The Boswell Book Club was initiated in September 2002 and, except during COVID restrictions in 2020 and 2021, has been meeting monthly from September to June at the Boswell Memorial Hall. Gathering at the Boswell Memorial Hall means that no individual member ever feels the pressure of hosting a social event. The Creston Library brings in multiple copies of each month’s selection through the Inter-Library Loan system. This allows all the members to read the same book at the same time without having to buy their own individual personal copies. Members pay a nominal fee to offset any potential expense to replace a lost book if necessary.

All the members put forward suggestions for books to be selected, and the choice is made through the luck of the draw. This results in a wide coverage of genres and triggers discussions which are open, free and lively. Our club provides a wonderful opportunity for mental stimulation as well as social engagement, both of which are vital to the health and well-being of a senior community.
